Configuring domain isolation in Satellite helpdesk and higher versions

Apr-28th, 2026 15:51 0 0

Using Vision Helpdesk software, you can provide customer support to your end users and manage all their queries through a centralised portal. Your customers can raise queries through any of the multiple channels configured in your setup, thereby streamlining communication.

If a company has multiple products or services, it may operate under multiple domains or brands that require separate management. For example, Company A may deal with software development, while Company B may be a hosting provider. The clientele for both companies may be completely different and require isolation. In such cases, Satellite Helpdesk allows you to manage customer support for multiple companies under a single system.

In Satellite Helpdesk, you can add multiple company domain names and define the level of isolation between them. For Satellite Helpdesk and higher versions, additional domains can be added from:

Admin Settings>>Module Properties>>Domain

Please refer to the article for detailed steps on how to add a new domain.

Defining Isolation Between Domains

To define isolation between multiple domains, there are three configuration options available under:

Admin Settings>>System>>Client Portal

(Please read options A, B and C carefully and then set it as per your business requirement. We recommend setting this option at the initial setup and avoiding switching between it later, as it may cause operational issues.)

Option A: Complete Isolation

A single staff portal to manage support for multiple companies/brands/products.

Each company has its own dedicated customer portal.

Customers registered on Company A’s portal cannot use the same login on Company B’s portal.

Tickets from Company A cannot be moved to Company B, and vice versa.

Option B: Partial Isolation

A single staff portal to manage support for multiple companies/brands/products.

Each company has its own dedicated customer portal.

Customers registered on Company A’s portal can use the same login on Company B’s portal, and vice versa.

Tickets can be moved between Company A and Company B.

Option C: No Isolation

A single staff portal to manage support for multiple companies/brands/products.

A single shared customer portal.

Tickets can be moved between all companies/domains without restriction.
