Configuration item type

By default there are certain CI types that are present in Vision Helpdesk. Additional CI type can be added for the same.

If one needs additional CI types then it can be added from the admin settings also the existing CI types can also be edited.

Quick steps to add CI type:

  • Login to Vision Helpdesk account as an administrator.
  • Go to Settings >> ITIL >> Configuration item type
  • CI can be either added to the root or select a parent category for the CI if applicable.
Adding of CI will include the following fields:

Title:

The name of the CI is to be specified here.

Display order:

The order in which CI is to be displayed or sorted should be specified here.

Parent category:

It will display the parent category to which the particular CI belongs. It is also possible to change the parent category.

Department access:

It is possible to assign the CI that is added to departments by selecting it from the listing. Keeping All departments as checked will assign the particular CI for all the departments.

Language translation for configuration item title:

The translated name for the configuration item will be specified here.

Status:

The status for the configuration item can be enabled or disabled from here.

Click on the Add option and the particular CI type gets added.


Update CI type:

It is possible CI type by selecting it; the changes can be made and can be updated from the Update option present at the bottom.

CI custom fields:

It is possible to add extra fields for the Configuration item from CI custom fields option which is present at the top.

Mass Action on CI custom fields:

It is possible to select one CI custom field or more than one CI custom field with the help of checklist and perform desired action on them. The status of the custom field can be enabled or disabled from here.

A CI custom field can be deleted by the Delete option.

Add CI custom field

CI type:

It will display the CI type for the particular field. It can be changed by the Change option and list out all the categories for the CI items.

(Text box / Text area / Password):

The fields related to this CI custom field will be the same.

Field title:

The title of the field is to be mentioned here.

Default value:

The default value of the field is to be mentioned here.

Field description:

A short description about the field can be written here.

Display order:

The order in which the particular field will be displayed will be specified here.

Regular expression validation:

It will specify whether the particular regular expression is validated or not. The particular choice is to be made from Email, Numeric, Alphabetic and Alphanumeric.

Is required:

It will decide whether the particular field is required or not.

User editable:

Not applicable since it is not available for the client portal.

Staff editable:

It will decide whether the fields will be edited by the staff or not.

Status:

The status of the particular CI custom field will be enabled or disabled from here.

(Checkbox / Radio button / Select box, Multiple Select box):

Field title:

The title of the field will be mentioned here.

Field description:

A short description about the field can be written here.

Display order:

The order in which the particular field will be displayed will be specified here.

User editable:

Not applicable since it is not available for the client portal.

Staff editable:

It will decide whether the particular field that is added will be edited by the staff or not.

Status:

The status of the fields can be either enabled or disabled from here.

Option fields:

There can be optional fields that can be added by this option.

(Date Time):

Field title:

The title of the field is to be specified here.

Field description:

The description of the particular field can be mentioned here.

Display order:

The order in which the particular field will be listed will be displayed would be specified here.

Default value:

The default value of the field is to be mentioned here.

User editable:

Not applicable since it is not available for the client portal.

Staff editable:

It will decide whether the particular field will be edited by the staff or not.

Status:

The status of the particular field can be either enabled or disabled from here.

Update CI custom fields:

It is possible to edit or update a particular CI custom field by selecting it from the listing. The changes can be made and can be updated from the Update option present at the bottom.

These fields get displayed when the Assets are added depending upon the CI type that is selected.
